Our Overview
Apps and Girls Uganda is a regional initiative of Apps and Girls, dedicated to empowering girls and young women in Uganda with technology, innovation, and entrepreneurial skills. Our work focuses on equipping participants with practical digital skills and confidence to become creators, problem-solvers, and leaders in the digital economy.
Our Story
Apps and Girls Uganda was established to extend the mission of Apps and Girls beyond Tanzania and respond to the growing need for digital skills among girls and young women in Uganda. Through partnerships with schools, community centers, and innovation hubs, the initiative introduced coding, robotics, and entrepreneurship programs designed to address real-world challenges and inspire innovation.
Our Mission
To empower girls and young women in Uganda with software and hardware programming, coding, robotics, and entrepreneurial skills that enable them to create innovative solutions and pursue opportunities in technology.
Our Vision
A future where girls and young women in Uganda have equal access to technology education and opportunities to lead innovation and economic growth.
How We Work
Our Approach
Apps and Girls Uganda uses a hands-on, cyclical learning approach that combines technical training, mentorship, teamwork, and incubation. Participants learn by doing — building projects, experimenting with technology, and developing solutions that respond to community needs.
